More than 30 thousand people will participate in the national campaign «Hour of Code», aimed at promoting programming among youth, reports the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From December 7 to 13, 2015, Kazakhstan will host the «Hour of Code» campaign for the first time as part of the international Computer Science Education Week. Kazakhstan has become one of the first CIS countries to join the «Hour of Code» movement, which has been supported at the state level (Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan).

«The initiative „Hour of Code“ is an effective way to show how interesting and easy programming can be. In 2014 and early 2015, about 134 million people participated in the campaign, including around 15 million in the USA and 7.5 million in Russia. This campaign successfully debunks the myths that programming is boring, „not for girls“ or simply too difficult. The goal of the campaign is to increase youth interest in studying computer science and programming, as well as to enhance the prestige of IT professions in the eyes of young people, — the agency notes.

It is expected that the «Hour of Code» will become the largest educational event in the IT field ever held in Kazakhstan: a record number of students are planned to participate in the campaign—over 30 thousand, each of whom will have a unique opportunity to acquire skills in programming and take their first steps in IT. The thematic computer science lesson is recommended to be conducted in all schools of Kazakhstan for students in grades 3-7. The format of the «Hour of Code» includes special computer science lessons, where teachers will tell children about what programmers do and write the first lines of real code together with many children.

Strengthening Compliance with Labor Legislation in 2026: What Kazakhstan Employers Need to Know

In 2026, Kazakhstan is strengthening control over compliance with labor legislation. One of the key regulatory instruments is the Unified System for Recording Employment Contracts (USREC), operating on the enbek.kz platform. Government authorities are moving toward stricter administration: from March 2026, administrative liability will be introduced for violations of the procedure for entering information on employment contracts into the USREC. This means employers must proactively establish correct processes for registering and maintaining HR documentation to avoid fines and legal risks.
