When implementing the Documentolog EDS, our clients have the option to choose between the following models:
- SaaS (Software-as-a-Service), where the system is installed on our servers, and clients rent licenses;
- PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service), where the system is installed on the client's servers, and licenses are also rented.
Currently, 94% of our clients choose the SaaS model, 5% choose PaaS, and only 1% of clients purchase Documentolog EDS licenses for their own balance (On-Premise).
When choosing PaaS, clients do not always consider factors such as:
▪️the need to hire a system administrator to manage the servers and promptly address system-related issues,
▪️the necessity of constantly maintaining server functionality,
▪️the requirement to ensure data security and preservation.
As for SaaS clients: they receive all of the above as part of the system rental. Clients do not spend time and money managing servers and the system, as well as ensuring their information security.
Importantly, information security is a decisive factor among clients in favor of choosing SaaS, as we ensure the security of our systems using three levels of protection: infrastructure level, software level, and human level (read more about security measures in the article). To ensure such a high level of information protection, our clients need not only to invest significant funds but also to possess the knowledge and expertise we have accumulated over 15 years of operation.
Therefore, more and more of our clients, initially operating under the PaaS model, prefer to transition to our cloud.
One such client is the Institute of Nuclear Physics. For two years, the Institute used Documentolog EDS under the PaaS model, meaning the system was deployed on the Institute's servers. The complexity of self-administering the servers caused many problems when using the system.
M. Kenjegaliyev, Head of the IT Department at the Institute of Nuclear Physics: “About a month ago, we decided to switch from the PaaS model to SaaS and leave the system administration to the specialists at Documentolog. After transitioning to SaaS, the server maintenance issues were resolved, which positively impacted the efficiency of the Institute's document flow.”
According to MarketsandMarkets Research, the global cloud technology market is expected to grow by 16.3% annually and will more than double by 2026, reaching $947.3 billion. SaaS is the most in-demand sector of cloud services.
